The Log Cabin @ Elgin sleeps 8 guests comfortably, with two bedrooms (one king-size bed, one double bed) and a spacious loft with four single beds — ideal for kids. There’s one bathroom with a bath, shower and toilet, plus a separate guest loo for convenience.

The fully equipped kitchen makes self-catering simple, while the indoor fireplace and outdoor braai area set the scene for cosy evenings and relaxed meals.

Set right on the river with direct access to walking trails, the cabin is pet-friendly and surrounded by mountain views and wide-open farm space. Rustic and charming,

Less that 7 days, forfeit the full deposit R10
From 8 – 14 days forfeit 75 % of the deposit
From 15 – 21 days forfeit 50% of the deposit
From 22 – 28 days forfeit 25 % of the deposit.

Elgin Farm is certainly one of the best kept secrets when visiting the Drakensberg. The drive up to Underberg is spectacular - great if you love driving. The guesthouse itself is situated on a working diary farm and they invite you to visit the milking that happens every afternoon. The accommodation is comfortable, location is spectacular and the rates are very reasonable. A perfect place for short stay with the family and kids.

There's really nothing we disliked at Elgin. We loved the friendly staff and helpful manager. We got there very late around midnight and they had complimentary sherry for us and a warm room. The breakfast was good. The views as well. It was a welcomed quiet break from the city.

Penelosc“Spectacular views and true farming hospitality”

Elgin is a little piece of heaven, the rooms are very comfortable and were wonderfully heated for the chilly winter's evening. This is a working farm and even though they were busy with daily farming activities and calving, they kindly went out of their way to show the children around and show then the newly born calves etc. Breakfast was also delicious and we would definitely go back given the opportunity.

If you are looking for a truely relaxing weekend, Elgin Farm is the place to go. Very comfortable accommodation from the electrical blankets, heated flooring, spa bath, fire places to the excellent breakfast. Our days were spend by taking long scenic walks, visit the dairy on the farm or the Cheesary across the street. We were well rested and relaxed when we returned to the Rat Race on Sunday afternoon.

We really enjoyed our short stay in this lovely place! The room was in a little cottage next to the main house, beautifully decorated, with a very nice view and the cows coming nearly to your window in the morning. Breakfast was excellent too. Already the drive to Underberg is very scenic. We were really sad that we could not stay another day..

We stayed for only one night at Elgin Holiday Farm, but loved it. The rooms are large, extremely comfortable and have beautiful views from their own little terraces. This is a working dairyfarm, and it was fun to see the cows heading out in the morning by our window! The breakfast is wonderful and the hostess very helpful. What is more, it is a relatively short drive (less than three hours) from Durban International Airport, so makes a good first stop for weary travellers, which we were. Highly recommended.
